Volcano in Alaska spews ash cloud, Alert for Air traffic
In Alaska a remote volcano, Cleveland Volcano in Aleutian Islands erupted on 29 December. This volcano spouted an 4,570 metres ash cloud into the sky.
The Alaska Volcano Observatory has raised the alert level for air-traffic because the volcano lies directly below flight paths between Asia and North America. This volcano had been oozing lava and ash clouds as high as 39,000 feet since July.
