Former telecom minister Sukhram in coma, says counsel
Sukh Ram (86), Former Union Telecom Minister has slipped into a state of coma,was convicted in a 1993 telecom scam and ordered to surrender, his counsel today told a Delhi Court which deferred the matter for tomorrow.
His counsel told to Special CBI Judge Dharmesh Sharma that he is in coma and unable to move from hospital.
Sukh Ram was directed by the Supreme Court to surrender before the trial court yesterday but he avoided it citing medical reasons
His counsel had submitted that Sukh Ram was hospitalised after undergoing computerised tomography (CT) angiography. Judge Dharmesh Sharma listed the matter for Saturday as the concerned judge is on leave.
While upholding their conviction, the Delhi High Court had directed all the three convicts to surrender before the trial court on January 5 to undergo their jail terms.
