Roger Federer won seventh Wimbledon title beating Andy Murray
On 8 July, Roger Federer beat Britain's Andy Murray in four sets by 4-6 7-5 6-3 6-4 to win his record-equalling seventh Wimbledon singles title and 17th singles championship in a Grand Slam tournament. This win gave Federer his seventh Wimbledon crown and the world No. 1 ranking.
Federer moved level with Pete Sampras on seven All England Club titles and record of 286 weeks at the game's top. Federer last won a major title at the 2010 Australian Open.
