Wrestler turned actor Dara Singh died at the age of 83
Wrestler and veteran actor Dara Singh died on 12 July in Mumbai at the age of 83. He was admitted to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai last week after a heart attack. He passed away peacefully at 7.30 a.m at hospital where he had been undergoing dialysis. He was shifted back home because his family's wish that he should be home in the last stages of his life after doctors said he has less chance of recovery.
Dara Singh won the world wrestling championship and the title of Rustam-e-Hind for his wrestling prowess. He appeared in many films like Watan Se Door, Daada, Rustom-E-Baghdad, Sher Dil, Mera Naam Joker and last seen in the 2007 release Jab We Met. But he was best known for his portrayal of Hanuman in Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan.
