Cloudburst in Uttarakhand, 33 people killed and 35 missing
A series of cloudbursts struck Uttarakhand on 14 September killing 33 people and 35 missing with several injured in parts of the hill state. These cloudbursts triggered landslides and flash floods. According to officials, communication systems and power lines were disrupted from the Nature's fury. Traffic along several roads, including national highways like Rishikesh-Badrinath and Rishikesh-Gangotri highways are affected.
Ukhimath area in Rudraprayag district was the worst hit as eight villages like Chunni, Mangoli, Kimana, Sansari, Giriya, Brahmankholi, Premnagar and Juatok suffered the cloudbursts the most. A cloudburst lattened dozens of homes in these eight villages in the night. Disaster Management and Mitigation Department (DMMD) have launched rescue and relief operations with the help of the army and ITBP personnel.
