A suicide bomber blew up a mini-bus carrying foreign and local contract workers by ramming his vehicle into the bus near Kabul airport in Afghanistan on 18 September. The attack killed at least nine foreign civilians and three Afghan. These foreign nationals were working for an aviation company at the airport.
Most of the foreigners killed were Russian and South African. It is beleived that, the attack was launched in retaliation for a film mocking the Prophet Mohammad which has enraged much of the Muslim world and led to the killing last week of the US ambassador and three other Americans in Libya. No one claimed immediate responsibility for the attack.
