India’s Mars mission to begin on Nov 27, 2013
India’s Mars Orbiter Mission will be launched on November 27, 2013. According to Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO)'s chairman K Radhakrishnan preparations for the mission are progressing as per schedule and Mars mission will be launched on November 27, 2013 when the red planet will be closer to the earth.
The Rs.470-crore Mars mission will demonstrate India’s capability of space missions. November 27 of next year is the very first available launch window for the mission, after it 2016 and 2018 are available launch windows in this decade. ISRO plans to use PSLV-XL - a high end rocket to launch the 1.4 tonne Martian spacecraft from Sriharikota spaceport.
